At a Glance: Jamie Overbeek
Jamie Overbeek is the current WOO world record holder for the highest kiteboarding jump ever recorded, reaching 42.3 metres. The Dutch big air kiteboarder grew up two hours from the coast, training in storm sessions on the North Sea from the age of nine, and turned that relentless work into a record-breaking career that is still accelerating. He does not just chase records. He takes you with him when he breaks them.
Jamie started flying kites at six years old and was kitesurfing by nine. By fourteen he had already jumped 31.4 metres, the highest recorded jump in the Netherlands at the time, and the youngest rider ever to clear 30 metres on the WOO leaderboard.
At sixteen he set the European height record during Storm Eunice. At seventeen he claimed the WOO world record at 35.3 metres at his home spot of Workum. In April 2026, days after winning the GKA Lords of Tram for the second time, he broke the record, reaching 42.3 metres, the highest kiteboarding jump ever measured. His 2022 Red Bull King of the Air runner-up finish made him the youngest rider ever to reach the KOTA podium.
Jamie uses the BbTalkin STANDARD 3.0 in a two-person setup, mounting the unit and Surf Cap directly onto his Insta360 X4 camera rig. Live audio commentary is captured as a simultaneous track alongside the footage. No dubbing, no post-production. What you hear is what happened on the water, at 42 metres, in real time.
Jamie also uses BbTalkin for pro coaching on the water. Full-duplex communication means both parties can speak and hear simultaneously with no push-to-talk button required, so his camera operator can confirm the shot or call out conditions between attempts without breaking the flow of the session. The BbTalkin STANDARD 3.0 is IPX7 waterproof through a sealed screw case, rated for submersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes. For a rider crashing at altitude in heavy water on a regular basis, this protection is not optional.
“How cool is it to be able to record the highest jump ever with comments.”

BbTalkin has been BbTalkin has been tested relentlessly in the Netherlands since 2012. The Dutch coast is one of the most demanding testing grounds in kiteboarding, flat, exposed, storm-driven water that punishes unreliable gear fast. Jamie Overbeek’s use of BbTalkin in world record sessions is the clearest demonstration of what the system was built for. Fellow Dutch pro kiteboarder Steven Akkersdijk, CORE team rider and Red Bull KOTA regular, also uses BbTalkin for rider-to-coach communication during training and freeride sessions.
