Who it's for
The MASTER 3.0 is for anyone running a group: surf and kite schools teaching several students, sailing crews, and rescue teams. The Master is the controller, so you pair STANDARD 3.0 units to it as the group members. A typical setup is one Master plus two or three Standard units. You need at least one Standard alongside the Master to talk.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can the Master connect?
The MASTER 3.0 manages up to 4 people in total: itself plus three STANDARD 3.0 units. You bring units in and out of the group using the channel buttons on the Master.
What is the range in group mode?
Group range is 300 to 600m depending on conditions and how the units are mounted. With a full 4-person group, expect roughly 250 to 350m. The 1000m figure applies only to 2-person Standard-to-Standard use.
Can the Master pair with a phone or GoPro?
No. The MASTER 3.0 is built solely as a group controller and does not connect to a phone or GoPro. If you want phone or GoPro connectivity, use a STANDARD 3.0.
Do I need Standard units as well?
Yes. The Master is the controller and the Standard units are the group members. On its own the Master has nothing to talk to, so pair it with two or three Standard 3.0 units for a working group.
What does IPX7 mean?
IPX7 is a waterproof rating meaning a device withstands full submersion in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes. The BbTalkin MASTER 3.0 achieves IPX7 when sealed in its screw-down waterproof case.
