Pairing devices and group management

Instructors can stay in full control with the 3.0 MASTER intercom. You can connect max three 3.0 STANDARD intercom units. The master unit manages all links, allowing clear real-time communication across the group.

Pairing is quick and takes only a few minutes. Do it before your session, in a quiet area without nearby Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interference. After setup, the devices remember their connections. Next time, simply power on and press the desired channel button to reconnect instantly.

Distance Overview

BbTalkin uses a Bluetooth connection, which naturally has limits depending on environment and positioning. The main factors affecting range are positioning, line of sight, and the number of connected intercoms.

In typical lessons — with the instructor on the beach and students on the water — you can expect:

  • 2-person: ~800 m
  • 3-person: ~300–400 m
  • 4-person: ~250–350 m.
300-400m 2 Person 3 Person 4 Person Notes
Highpoint (dune, yeti) 10-30m above water 1000m 500-700m  400-600m Best signal; clear line of sight and elevated antenna.
Placed on head (helmet, cap, hat etc.) 2m above water 800m 300-400m 250-350m Typical setup for on-water use; stable if antennas remain exposed.
Placed on sleeve (or when student down) 0m above water 400m 150-250m 100-150m Lowest range; body and water block signal.

Use this to understand the maximum range of the Bbtalkin system in most situations. Keep in mind that weather conditions and humid air can affect the total range. For best performance, ensure all units remain in clear line of sight at all times.

Max Distance on Water and land in 2-person connection

On land, height and line of sight are key for the best range. Standing on a hill or cliff can reach up to 1000m or more, while at ground level the range is typically 800m. Connecting more Intercoms will decrease the distance. Always stay in line of sight.

When both riders are on the water, range is typically 800m, depending on conditions and antenna height. If a rider is low to the water, range can drop to 250m.

📌 Positioning tip: Mount the intercom as high as possible, ideally on a helmet, hat, or headband. When the unit is close to or under the water, signal strength drops sharply or disconnects completely.

Waterproof housing

All BbTalkin intercoms have IPX7 rated housing built to handle full submersion and heavy spray, ensuring reliable performance to keep your intercom safe during extended exposure to water or harsh environments. The waterproof case is sold separately and can be replaced easily if it becomes worn or no longer provides full protection, keeping your intercom safe and ready for use

Crystal clear Audio Performance, built to last, easy to maintain

BbTalkin headsets feature foam sponges for wind noise reduction, high-quality speakers and microphones for crystal-clear communication. Even at high speeds or in rough conditions. Your system keeps performing.

Durable modular design allows easy replacement of microphones components, speakers components, separate headsets and housings.

Rinse with fresh water after use, dry thoroughly, and store in a ventilated place (away from UV light) to extend the lifespan of your BbTalkin system.

Wide Range of Headset Options

BbTalkin offers a wide range of headset styles for different sports. For instructors we recommend the Hat, Cap, Sports head strap or the white non-waterproof stereo headphone. With the S01 Multi-Connector you can use your own headset while maintaining waterproof protection.

Most students wear a helmet during training. Therefore, we have a variety of possibilities like mono pads, stereo pads, special GATH helmet pads or a sperate boom microphone.

Connectivity With GoPro Hero 12 and Smartphone

Connect your 3.0 STANDARD Intercom with GoPro Hero 12 and newer models to record live communication directly.

BbTalkin 3.0 STANDARD intercoms also connect directly to smartphones via Bluetooth for calls, recording, and live streaming or playing music.
